This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Time Delay Relays category on DigiKey.com
Time Delay Relays are electromechanical devices that turn a large load on or off through the use of a smaller control signal. These devices have a built-in time delay to control triggering of the relay. The functions are interval, off-delay, on-delay, one-shot, programmable (multi-function), repeat cycle, twin timer, signal on-off-delay, and star/delta controller.
SelectionCharacteristics
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Relay Type: Indicates a relay’s internal operating mechanism, typical usage, or other distinguishing feature.
Function: Indicates how the device behaves when given a trigger.
Circuit: Describes device function in terms of a number of poles and throws, as is typical for mechanical switches. For more information please see: Switch Basics, Examples of Pole and Throw
Delay Time: Characterizes the range of delay periods provided by a device as fixed or variable and indicates the range of values over which variable-delay devices can be adjusted.
Contact Rating @ Voltage: Typically this represents the maximum current to which a device’s contacts will meet their given specifications at a given voltage. Exceeding this current may damage the device and/or other system components.
Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.
Termination Style: Selection of termination style used to connect the device to a system, such as quick connect, screw terminals, or wire leads.
Timing Adjustment Method: Describes the user interface for configuration of the device.
Timing Initiate Method: Indicates the trigger the device uses to cause the timing function to start.
