Trainer Fuse

Hi

Could we get some helping finding fuse for our trainer?

Have a nice day

Bob

Will fill in with some more information.

Hi

Here is some more info.

Need fuses for 2 CIE Cleveland Institute of Electronics PLT-2 trainers.

Plus a CIE PLT-1 with Digital Training Lab add on.

Two have fuses for samples.

PLT–2’s call for a 300 mA fuses.

PLT-1 is unknown amperage .Cannot find a manual for it.

Two fuses are glass ones.

We can measure them in the morning.

Have a nice day

Bob

Can send pictures tomorrow too.

Welcome to the forum.

The glass fuses will most likely be one of the two most common sizes, 1-1/4" X 1/4" or 5X20mm.

The marking from the blown fuses and/or photos of them will help find the correct replacement.

Hi Paul

We will take care of the first PTL-2 we picked up first.

It was missing the fuse.

Give us a little bit to sort this out.

Fuse from PTL-1 seems to fit it okay.

Will test fuse from second PTL-2 for fit.

Hi Paul

Here is the second PTL-2

It has a fuse in it.

Will measure it and give you part number on it.

Hi Paul

The first measurement is 1 1/4 inch.

The 30 mm mark is a little past that so it seems like it is a 1 1/4 inch

Second measurement is 1/4 inch

6 mm is right around that

Reading part number is not working out

Would rather not.Causing pretty bad eye strain.

Silver label says 300 mA/250V/3AG

Also says ‘Regular Blow’

Hope that will do.

Fuse holder is kind where cap holds fuse.

Use phillips to get it out.

Fuse stays with cap. Then you pull it out of cap.

Hello,

I only find fast blow or slo blow options. I am not aware of regular blow. List of options are below.

https://www.digikey.com/short/w3dtftvw

When in doubt use the fast blow. The fast blow is generally used for circuit board protection. Slow blow is more for motor start. If you try to use slow blow first, it could damage something if it is not fast enough. You can always change the fast blow if it is seems to be blowing the fuse all the time. The other way around can damage something.

You can actually look through the options for the fuse holders to see what you can make work. Here is the link: https://www.digikey.com/short/5qm9cb30

I could not narow it down any further. I provided the full link in case you need to check dimensions to make sure the option will fit where you need it to.

Hi Verna

Thank you.

A little misunderstanding here.

The fuse holder in this trainer is fine.

We have two PLT-2 trainers.

How we tell them apart is this has the fuse holder we described.

Will send pictures of fuseholder tomorrow morning.

Have a nice day

Regarding ‘Regular Blow’

This is late 60’s or 70’s trainer

Some ways of doing things may have fallen by the wayside.

Hi

Here is picture of fuse holder

Will write in next post.

Bob

Hi

So.Bottom line we just search Digikey for:

300 mA

3AG

We should never mind what the fuse holder looks like?

Hi

We pick this one.

From Verna’s search.Thank you Verna.

Is this a good one? It is fast blow.

Other fast blow was Littlefuse. Sounds like maybe better company but twice the price.

Have a nice day

Hello,

I am sorry. I am confused by the response . I gave short links above for bith items for you to review. You do have to right click on the link and click on open link. Though you should be able to see some choices to pick from.

That one should work. 300mA, 3AG, Fast Blow. Digi-Key part number is 283-2630-ND.

Thank you Verna and David

Have a good evening

Bob
