There is a wide variety of technologies to apply in today’s smart meter designs for sensing current, such as

  1. Current sense resistors (also known as shunt resistors) in chassis mount, through hole and surface mount form

  2. Current transformers

  3. Current transducers (hall effect type) , also known as hall effect sensor

  4. Rogowski coils
