Hi,
I just received my XPLR-AOA-1 eval kit from Digi-Key. The antenna array board C211 is missing horizontal and vertical axis LED’s. The LED’s provide an angle-of-arrival tag signal degree reference. The UBLOX demos show LED’s in these positions and would be very useful for my application.
Questions:
- Is there a reason the LED’s were omitted by UBLOX?
- Did I order the wrong kit? (I did not see an ref regarding LEDs on product description). UBLOX demo videos show the LED’s being used.
- Can I install the LED’s myself? If so, what type and color and is there any software parameter change?
Thank you,
JimR
It looks like those used to be included but are not in the new kits. There is a note on their user guide.
- ☞ The C211 antenna board included in the initial versions of the XPLR-AOA-1 and XPLR-AOA-2
hardware kits featured a LED array that indicated the direction towards the C209 tag. Due to
constraints in component availability, later versions of these kits are built without this LED array.
This component is not essential for using the kits as they were originally intended.
I didn’t see any information on the LEDs themselves.

Benjamin is right on the money with this, U-Blox stopped supplying these LED arrays and they are no longer a part of the kit. There isn’t any information on the LEDs originally used in their public-facing documentation as far as I can tell. But, if you want to pursue this I can email one of our reps who works with U-Blox to see if we can get some clarification on this, hopefully a model number or some specs that we can use.

Thank
Thanks for replies from Benjamin and Chris!
If the only issue was component availability when the C211 was manufactured, then it would seem easy to install same/similar myself. Yes, Chris if you could reach out to the U-Blox tech and find out what “type” of LED’s were used (diff colors for any functions) - and if all that is needed is to SMD solder them in place, I’m sure that I and others would appreciate the information.
Thanks!
Jim
