USB to RS485 (Full-Duplex) Interface with RJ-11 Connector

I am reaching out to inquire about suitable components for establishing a full-duplex RS485 communication link between a host computer and a device that uses an RJ-11 male connector for serial interfacing.

I am specifically looking for one of the following:

  • A USB to RS485 converter that supports full-duplex communication and terminates in an RJ-11 female connector, or

  • A combination of components (e.g., USB to RS485 module + RJ-11 breakout or adapter etc.) that can be assembled without requiring soldering, wiring, or custom fabrication.

My preference is for a plug-and-play solution that can be easily integrated into my setup with minimal AIT effort. Ideally, the product or combination of products should be ready to use out of the box and compatible with standard USB drivers for Windows/Linux.

Any leads to the appropriate products will be highly appreciated.

Hello pp08,

Welcome and thank you for posting in the TechForum.

I did some research, and I think the combination of these 2 things might work for you. Take a look at part numbers 2084-BB-USPTL4-LS-ND and 3132-ST-RJ11-R-MIN-ND. I’m not positive because I’ve never used this setup, but it’s a starting point. Maybe one of our Engineers would have a better solution.

Thanks @jeff_12063 . It seems 3132-ST-RJ11-R-MIN-ND is not available on digikey.co.uk but only on digikey.com. But this is a good starting pointing.

I will be happy to hear more solutions from your engineers, if any.

Here is another option to use in place of 3132-ST-RJ11-R-MIN-ND, but it will require soldering the parts together yourself.

1568-14021-ND

ED10565-ND

RJ11 Jacks

Thanks @Steven_14444 . I will prefer to avoid soldering myself, but if the earlier option does not work out, I will get these components.
