What FFC cable do I have? Need to replace

Looking for this FFC. From a midi workstation

Hello knordlander99,

I’m not certain what exact FFC cable that is but it looks to be similar to some that we have in stock in the link below:

Flat Flex Ribbon Jumpers, Cables | Electronic Components Distributor DigiKey

These options are 30 conductors and with 0.5mm pitch. There are some other filters remaining in that link you can utilize to narrow options down further. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the information. Could you possibly help me identify correctly pitch etc.? I will purchase if correct. I am a musician, not a technician lol

The pitch is the distance from the center of one conductor to the center of the next conductor.

One way of determining that do a multiplication of say (1mm x 30 conductors) + the width of the edge of the cable, 1mm which would be 31mm (1.22inches) overall width of the cable if you have a 1mm pitch cable.

A 0.5mm pitch 30 conductor cable would have the width of approx 15.5mm (0.61inches)

Thank you. Is there anything else I need to know about these cables to source them? I am very green at this and just looking to replace. I will attach photos.

  • length
  • number of conductors
  • pitch (spacing between conductors)
  • if the end conductors face the same direction on both sides of the cable or opposite sides of the cable

Hello. Thanks for your response. Width is 1.1cm. 30 conductors. 0.5 pitch. Length is 9 inches. Conductors are on same side. If you could direct me to match. Very grateful.

You’re going to want to double check your measurement on width and pitch, using your thumb for scale I do not believe your overall width would be 1.1cm.

The width is 1cm

1cm = 10mm.

Here is what 10mm looks like compared to the nail on my pinky.

I think you’re going to find the width of your cable is probably 3.1cm (1.22inches) and 1mm pitch but you’ll need to measure to verify.

If it is 3.1cm here is a possible cable that would work for you:

Thank you so much. You were right. Thanks for taking the time. I ordered.
