Replacement Sumitomo-Y-2896-80C-VW-1

I repair vintage and new radio equipment. Quite often need flexible cables. I need ten of the above but having problems nailing the exact suitable replacement.
I used the selection tables but note sum data sheets do not specify the overall cable width, and other near matches are too narrow. example 10-14-A-0100-C-4-08-1-T does not have the 18mm overall width of the cable I am trying to replace which is 14 pins, 1mm Pitch contact width 0.8mm , contacts same side, overall thickness 0.35mm
Can you advise further? many thanks JOe

Hello Joe,

I have filtered for similar options to 10-14-A-0101-C-4-08-4-T:

The options that I find have a width defined as Cable Width = ( # of conductors +1)*( Pitch ). I was not finding any greater than 15mm.

Unfortunately I could not find options near the 18mm you had referenced.

Hey Troy, thanks for looking at this. As all the flixi connectors in the radio are from the same series, I am tempted to change the connectors and choose more modern (available) ribbons. Since one end fits into a slide connector and the other into a compression (push down bar) connector plus one side is through hole the other SMT, I will need to remove the PCBs and come up with a parts list. Cheers// Joe

As Troy mentioned, the width of a flex cable is typically the pitch multiplied by the number of connectors plus one. If the conductor count and overall width were measured correctly, it would appear that the pitch of the cable in question is nearer to 1.25mm, which is a thing that’s available.

Hi Rick, thanks for the info and I will take a look at the Molex range later today. I reverted to the old fashioned way and used a steel ruler and looking at the photo, your quite possibly right. cheers both, Joe.
