Hi everyone!
I’ve been in the PCB assembly and electronics manufacturing space for quite some time and noticed that one of the toughest parts of production isn’t always design it’s finding the right balance between cost efficiency and consistent quality.
Even with optimized surface mount assembly (SMT) processes and automated inspection systems, there are still hidden variables that can drive up production cost like component sourcing, reflow temperature tuning, and manual through-hole assembly steps.
I’m curious to know from others here:
-
What’s been your biggest cost-quality trade-off in PCB manufacturing or assembly runs?
-
Do you prefer working with local PCB assembly services for better control or outsourcing for cost advantage?
-
How do you ensure repeatability and consistency across different builds or suppliers?
I think sharing real-world experiences here could help a lot of engineers and startups who are scaling up production or optimizing small-batch builds.
Looking forward to hearing your insights!
