When you have a project that requires an adhesive, there are a few key points that should help you narrow down your adhesive choices.
-
What is your substrate (materials that you will be bonding)?
Stainless Steel, Foam, Powder Coated, Polypropylene, Polycarbonate, Aluminum, Wood, Plastics, Concrete, Stone, Glass, Ceramics, Fiberglass, Rubber, Brick, etc…Note: If using adhesive to put together two different substrates, this is important to note as well.
-
What are your attributes?
- Is this for general purpose, or high temperature - extreme colds. Constant temps, or variables.
- Outdoor or indoor application.
- Do you need it to be flexible, rigid, or permanent?
- Is there a tensile, sheer, cleavage, or peel strength that is needed for your adhesive application?
Having an answer to these two questions, really helps to narrow down what 3M sticky product will work for your application. Remember to always look at the 3M Datasheets as it will provide you with a great deal of information on substrates.
