Tape is a material that has adhesive on one or two sides and is used to make a bond between two or more items. Tape should be selected based on the type of material being bonded and the required bond strength. Tape is classified by the type (antistatic, electrical, duct, etc.), the adhesive (acrylic, epoxy, polymer, rubber, etc.) , the backing (acrylic, aluminum, paper, etc.), size, and its usage.

Tape Type: Describes the intended function/purpose or composition of a tape.
Adhesive: Identifies or describes the adhesive material incorporated into a tape product.
Backing, Carrier: Indicates the material used as the structural, adhesive-bearing component of a tape.
Thickness: The total thickness for the tape.
Thickness - Adhesive: The thickness of the adhesive applied to the tape.
Thickness - Backing, Carrier: The thickness of the backing/carrier applied to the tape.
Width: The overall width of the tape.
Length: The overall length of the tape.
Color: The dominant color of the tape.
Usage: The typical expected usage the manufacturer designed the tape for.
Temperature Range: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the tape and other system components.
