ABM8G-24.000MHZ-18-D2Y-T

Hi Team,

We are using the crystal part ABM8G-24.000MHZ-18-D2Y-T in our design.

During board debug, we observed the following top marking on the mounted component:

  • 240

  • AK50

Could you please help verify whether this top marking corresponds to the above-mentioned part number?

We have purchased the component from DigiKey, and currently we are in a critical stage to deliver the board. Kindly confirm the above query at the earliest.

Additionally, please help confirm:

  • Package pin configuration

  • Pin orientation / pin identification details

  • How to identify the correct mounting orientation during assembly verification

Please share your confirmation as soon as possible.

Thanks & Regards,
Tamizhanban

Hi tamizhanban,

Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.

For the package and pin information please take a look at the data sheet and drawing of ABM8G-24.000MHZ-18-D2Y-T as per below:

The mounting is basic surface mount method via Reel feed as per the below snip also from the same data sheet.

In regards to the marking of these there is no legend for top marking verification provided thus it would have to be verified by the manufacturer. Is there a reason you believe that you got a wrong part?

Hi,

Thank you for the information and for sharing the datasheet references.

I have reviewed the package drawing and mounting details, and I understand that the part follows standard surface-mount (reel feed) assembly.

To clarify further, the marking on the received component is “24.0 AK5C” (image attached for reference). The “24.0” marking aligns with the expected 24 MHz frequency, however, there is no top marking legend available in the datasheet to verify the remaining code.

Could you please confirm whether this marking corresponds to the correct part ABM8G-24.000MHZ-18-D2Y-T

Your confirmation would be helpful.

Thanks and regards,
Tamizhanban

Hi Irfan,

Could you please help confirm whether the received part with the below top marking belongs to the part number ABM8G-24.000MHZ-18-D2Y-T?

Top marking observed on the mounted component:

240
AK50

We would appreciate your confirmation at the earliest, as we are currently in a critical stage of board delivery.

Thanks & Regards,
Tamizhanban

Hi Irfan,

Please refer to the attached images of the received component.

Based on our observation, the Pin-1 location on the received part appears to be at the top-right position, as highlighted in the image. However, the package marking/cut indication seems different from the reference drawing, which is creating confusion during assembly verification.

Could you please help confirm whether the received component is the correct part corresponding to ABM8G-24.000MHZ-18-D2Y-T and whether the observed pin orientation is expected for this device?

Your confirmation will help us proceed with confidence for the remaining board builds.

Thanks & Regards,
Tamizhanban

Hello,
The datasheet shows pin 1 should be at the bottom left when looking down at the top of the part with the letters and numbers going left to right. The manufacturer does not disclose their part marking scheme but it is correct. 24.0 is the frequency, AK5C is the series, date/lot code of the part. From the top side photo you provided pin 1 location should be in the location of the yellow circle.

To emphasize @Steve_Fellman’s point, see the below highlight from datasheet noting that the chamfer may be on pin 4, but that pin 1 will always be located at bottom left when the Top Marking is oriented to be read from left to right.
