AC-DC Converters convert an alternating current input voltage (10 V to 766 VAC) to a direct current output voltage (-54.5 V to 400 VDC). The AC-DC converter can be board mounted on- or off-board. Off-board power sources are available with 1 to 10 outputs, while on-board are available with 1 to 3 outputs. The output current ranges from 10 mA to 1000 A with wattage ratings of 1 W to 10,080 W.
Type: Indicates the style and configuration of the device.
Number of Outputs: Indicates the number of separate outputs the device can provide.
Voltage - Input: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.
Voltage - Output 1: Nominal value of voltage for output 1.
Voltage - Output 2: Nominal value of voltage for output 2.
Voltage - Output 3: Nominal value of voltage for output 3.
Voltage - Output 4: Nominal value of voltage for output 4.
Voltage - Output 5: Nominal value of voltage for output 5.
Voltage - Output 6: Nominal value of voltage for output 6.
Current - Output 1: The maximum amount of current that can be produced by output 1.
Current - Output 2: The maximum amount of current that can be produced by output 2.
Current - Output 3: The maximum amount of current that can be produced by output 3.
Current - Output 4: The maximum amount of current that can be produced by output 4.
Current - Output 5: The maximum amount of current that can be produced by output 5.
Current - Output 6: The maximum amount of current that can be produced by output 6.
Power (Watts): Maximum amount of power the device can provide - due to losses you generally want your applications power needs to be between 40%-60% of what your power supply can provide.
Applications: Application is the type of equipment or environment the device will be used in, they are tested and typically rated by a third party to ensure certain minimum standards for the application they are intended for. You could use one with a higher rating, but you cannot use one with a lower rating as it will fail in that application. For example, you could use a medically rated device to replace a commercial device, but you cannot replace the medical device with the commercial device.
Voltage - Isolation: The maximum voltage difference that can be observed across the device’s isolation barrier before breakdown occurs and isolation is lost.
Efficiency: Ratio of output power to input power, typically measured at nominal voltage under full load.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as hot swappable or load sharing.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Size / Dimension: The physical dimensions of the device. Typically length, width, and height.
Approval Agency: An indication that the product meets the minimum safety standards of an approving agency. These agencies are either government entities or private third-party labs that protect consumer safety.
Standard Number: Indication of which standard(s) are used by relevant approval agencies.
