AFCI can I use it in a power cord that runs garden items like lawn mowers and tools like power saws?

AFCI can I use it in a power cord that runs garden items like lawnmowers and tools like power saws? Are there any (recommendations please) that will work?) and will not trip unnecessarily due to electric noise/arcing?

Hello Martin.Hass,

I am uncertain exactly what you are asking. Are you able to share what exactly it is you are trying to accomplish?

Thanks Nick, I am trying to build an electric cord with arc protection for use as a normal 12ov, 15A extension cord. I understand that I might have a problem with unintentional tripping if I use tools on the cord that have a high draw to start them and high electrical noise. Your thoughts?

Hi Nick, sure.

I am trying to build an extension cord with a PCB mounted surge protector, CB/on-off switch, GFCI and AFCI.

I am concerned that I cannot find a board mounted GFCI (mbe I can find the components to a GFCI and build one???) and I am concerned that if I use an AFCI that it will give false trips while using noisy electrics such as a power saw on startup. Brent has also been of great help.

Thanks!

Martin

Hello Martin,

The AFCI may have nuisance trips with the loads you are asking about using with it.

In regard to a circuit breaker with AFCI, I am really only seeing 3845-THQL1120DF-ND as an option.

For something that appears to be a bit closer to what you are looking for, you can see these GFCI options we have.
