I am looking to use a rotary switch such as an NKK MRX-108A, DigiKey part number 360-2377-ND. Ideally, I would like its termination to be solder lugs but it does not look like you have those in stock and I don’t want to pay extra to go to the Marketplace. So, I have a few questions:
Can I solder 22 AWG wires to the PC pins type or turret type terminal mount? Which would be better?
Could the MRX (PC-turret terminal mount) attach to a perf board?
Welcome to the Technical Forum . You should be able to solder wire to the PC pins. Though I would recommend protection like heat shrink added. I did find a part number similar with the solder lugs of CKN10204-ND. This one is in stock and not Marketplace. Here is the link:
The pin layout is a circular pattern and all perfboards have a rectangular pattern. So to mount it you would have to add or enlarge holes to make it fit.
Since the part in stock it has turret style terminals, it will be fairly easy to attach the wires because they have a shaped area on the terminal.
I am looking at rotary switch p/n CKN11051-ND. I need a know for it. Will knob p/n 679-3956-ND work? I guess my real question is, will a knob with the same hole diameter as the switch’s shaft diameter work? Or do I need to get a knob with its hole just a little bit bigger so it can slip onto the switch’s shaft?
Thank you for your question. Yes, these components are compatible. Generally, the knob shaft size should be equal or very close to the switch shaft size. While a knob with a slightly larger hole diameter may also work, if too large, it could cause uneven rotation after it is tightened to the shaft.
