Bricasti M21: Connect usb device over internet

Hi,

I have a DAC ( digital to analog converter) for a stereo system that is upstairs. It is already connected to my home network by an ethernet cable. I want to send the DAC files that have to go to the DAC’s USB port. My PC is downstairs so I can’t directly connect them together with a USB cable. Also, a program on my PC has to recgnize the DAC and USB connection. I can switch between the DAC’s inputs using a remote control like a TV. Will one of the devices below work for connecting DAC to the PC?

Convert to internet: 5214-USB31000SA-ND

Box to share USB device: 602-2293-ND

Thanks,

Alan

Can you share model number of this DAC?

The Digi AnywhereUSB® 2 Plus ( AW02-G300 - AnywhereUSB 2 Plus — 2-port USB over IP remote USB 3.1 hub with 10 M/100 M/1 G Ethernet, 5 VDC | Digi International ) box allows your PC running (Digi’s software Windows/Linux/Mac) to access a “USB” device plugged into the USB port of the aw02-g300 hardware. The end device has to be a native USB device.

Regards,

I’ve used a USB-over-IP device similar to the 602-2293-ND for my DAC, and it worked great. It allowed my PC to recognize the DAC as if it were directly connected via USB.

The DAC is a Bricasti M21. @RobertCNelson

I see a normal usb port…

I’d first plug a laptop/etc into the usb port and make sure it works the way you want, before picking up ‘only’ the Digi aw02-g300

It looks like DNLA is only available over Ethernet… USB might be a downgrade, unless your streaming directly from your PC to the DAC…

Regards,

Wow…This is more complicated than I thought. My PC is pretty big and I’m old, so I don’t think I’ll be carrying it upstairs. I may try a direct connection using an old laptop. For now, I’m going to put this project on hold. It’s too close to the holidays. I have a lot of other work to get done around the house.

Thanks for your help!

Kind regards,

Alan
