Can anyone help me identify the part number?

I recently bought this USB-C charge port thinking it would match the same one for an LG laptop model LG16T90R, but to my surprise, the charge port was different when it arrived, even though in the picture it looks exactly the same.

So I will need help to identify the part number so I can order the right one. Any help would be appreciated. (The one I received came in a package strip, and the one I need—I’m holding it with tweezers—is a 24-pin charge port: 12 vertical pins and the other 12 horizontal.)

Thank you.

Hello jimysosa1993,

Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum! I did a quick search online and was unable to locate a schematic for the LG16T90R, and without that we will not be able to know exactly what part number was used in the device. Many of these will look pretty similar, however what is going to matter the most will be the footprint of the USB connector. I imagine this is what you are referring to when you say 12 vertical pins and the other 12 horizontal.

When you mention the orientation of the pins, are you referring to vertical ones as through-hole while the vertical are surface mount? If so, you may want to take a look at THESE options. If not, please elaborate a bit more on the pins, including the pitch measurement if possible. A picture of the PCB showing the footprint pads may help a bit as well.

Hi,

Yes, you’re correct — there are 12 vertical pins that go through holes (through-hole), and the other 12 are surface mount.

Here’s a picture of the PCB showing the footprint for reference.

Thanks again for your help!

Hello jimysosa1993,

We’re still in the realm of guessing unless we can get exact measurements of the holes, but in looking at the footprint of the PCB it looks something like 900-2171830001CT-ND will be close. The greatest difficulty from here will be ensuring that the board mounts will line up. You will find the footprint on the product drawing, which can be pulled up by scrolling down to the Documents & Media section of the part’s page.

If you do manage to get some dimensional data and the 900-2171830001CT-ND is close but not exactly what you need, I suggest taking a look at the following and checking their footprints:

Hi,

It looks similat to this one: AUSB0443_Product Introduction | LOTES CO.,LTD.

Thanks

Hi,

I found the blueprints for the charge port we need, hopefully this helps.

Thank you!

Hello Jimysosa1993,

Thank you for providing the drawing; I compared the footprints to some of the options we have and was unable to find an exact match. The closest I believe we have in stock at the moment is the following part:

The pins and SMD pads are the same size, pitch, and positions, however the board guides on this one are slightly smaller than the one you provided. This wouldn’t be too much of an issue, however they are also .1mm closer as well. It might still work for you if you’re in pinch and cannot find the OEM version, however.
