That article covers most of what is understandable for someone who isn’t a scientist/engineer working in semiconductor manufacturing. In 5 to 10 years we’ll likely know if the new techniques are actually commercially viable. If they are, then it may be another 10 to 20 years before there are useful microprocessors, less complex integrated circuits will come first.
