For CPEA5051DL-130MC, the inductor has two windings wound on the same core. If the current by these two windings are called I1 and I2, How do we measure Isat and Irms current?
The Isat is stated to be 62 A. How are the two windings connected when this is measured? Is 62 A total current (i.e. I1 + I2 = 62 A) or current in each winding (i.e. I1 = I2 = 62 A, so total would be 124 A)?
Similarly, the Irms is stated to be 114 A. How are the two windings connected in this instance? Is 114 A total current (i.e. I1 + I2 = 114 A) or current in each winding (i.e. I1 = I2 = 114 A)?
If both windings carry current simultaneously, the net magnetizing current is what matters for saturation. If I1 and I2 flow in opposite directions (common in interleaved converters), their magnetic fields cancel, and the inductor can handle more total current before saturating. But the spec of 62 A refers to the worst-case: when the full current flows in one winding only.
