Determining the antenna model for Xbee3

First of all, I do apologize for my lack of knowledge. But I currently own the Xbee3 module (XB3-24Z8PT-J) which is using the PCB trace antenna. My question is, for this Xbee model, what antenna model is it using? By that, I mean is it a dipole antenna, omnidirectional or something else? Here is a list of antenna module types that I know.

The reason I’m asking this is because I’m trying to simulate a scenario and I need to model the antenna as accurately as possible.

Hello C_Xbee3,

Welcome to the community and thank you for your inquiry!

I just checked, I’m not seeing that Digi publishes radiation patterns for their trace antennas, I could be mistaken though. The best I could find for their design application notes is their hardware reference manual which tells you where not to place any metal objects that would interfere with the trace antenna.

Simulation would be difficult as I’m assuming your design would implement a number of metal objects, depending upon where you place them and also where in a building you place your module results would vary widely.

From what I’m seeing for their PCB antennas Digi recommends customers contact them requesting radiation patterns for various modules.
