We are currently using the PL-USB-Blaster-RCN by Altera programming cable/programmer in our existing production/test setup and noticed it is now EOL/unavailable.
We would like to know:
What is the recommended equivalent replacement?
Has anyone validated compatibility with older ByteBlaster/USB-Blaster setups and legacy software?
Our concern is ensuring compatibility with an existing automated test environment before making a change.
Any recommendations or experience would be greatly appreciated.
I checked with the group about the compatibility issue and was told
Any Altera-branded programming cable, from the older parallel port models to the newest USB 3.0 versions, should be fully compatible.
The only potential issues you might encounter relate to the Operating System (OS) or drivers. While newer Windows versions usually install these automatically, you may occasionally need to update your OS or device drivers manually, depending on your specific OS patch or Quartus version. Assuming you are running the latest software and updates, everything should work smoothly.
