We often get questions regarding how to find mates and contacts for the DIN 43589-1 Euro Battery Connector Series from Anderson Power Products, Inc.. The DIN 43589-1 series of connectors is actually a collection of several series. The Euro Battery Series includes connectors of industry standard sizes 80, 160, and 320 all in accordance with DIN 43589-1. The series designations are EBC 80, EBC 160, and EBC 320. To view the specifications for all three series please review the datasheets.

Finding a Mate
To find the mating connector for your connector we can look at the part numbering chart on the datasheet. For example, if I have a E32400-0008 connector, to find a mate, the 4 in the part number indicates a male connector, so our mate would need to be Female. By placing a 5 where the 4 is we change to female. The 50 after the 4 indicates the contacts so we would keep that number the same. The 1 after the dash indicates a handle, this can be the same or different based on your application (see part breakdown for options). The 0 after the 1 is the coding key, this should be the same so that your parts match up. The second zero after the 1 indicates if there are air tubes or auxiliary contacts, this also should be the same or your parts won’t mate. The last number, in our example 8, indicates the packaging, it does not affect the structure of the connector and is therefore irrelevant for terms of finding a mate. So for our example we need E32500-0008, or E32500-0009 (the 8 and 9 being solely packaging means either will work).
Finding Contacts and Accessories
These connectors can be ordered with contacts of different wire sizes by changing the two numbers after the 4(or 5 respectively), so when ordering mating connectors make sure to use the same two-digit code for both connectors so that your contacts are the same size. Our example, E32400-0008, shows 00 in that position, indicating that the connector does not come with contacts and we will need to purchase them separately. How do we know which ones to purchase? The most important aspect is to get the contacts that will fit your wire size.
The part numbers for the contacts and other accessories are listed on the datasheets. Below is a summary of those part numbers, for complete specifications refer to the datasheet.

|(2) Universal yellow coding key is only used on male connectors|||||||
(3) EBC 160 and EBC 320 handles work with both the EBC 160 and EBC 320 series connectors
(4) No lower pilot auxiliary holder required on EBC 80 size connectors
