Products within the Flow Sensors category are used to measure or detect the flow of a fluid such as water or air. The simpler products provide a binary indication of whether or not the flow rate exceeds some defined value, whereas the more complex products are capable of providing a variable output from which the amount of fluid flow can be determined as a mass or volume-per-time quantity. Device performance in either case is quite strongly related to the properties of the working fluid, and media compatibility issues are also a matter of noteworthy concern for device selection and application.

Specifications to determine which flow sensor is right for your application.
Sensing Range: Indicates the range(s) of a physical input quantity over which a device is capable of producing a valid measurement.
Flow Sensor Type: Indicates the fluid media with which a device is intended to be used.
Voltage - Input: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.
Port Size: Describes the size and connection style of the orifices that carry the working fluid measured by a sensor.
Switch/Function Rating: Describes the output characteristics of binary-state devices (flow switches).
Material - Body: Indicates the material from which a device’s outer casing or housing is fabricated.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
