This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Gates and Inverters - Multi-Function, Configurable category on DigiKey.com
Products in the configurable logic gate family perform elementary logic operations on individual logic signals in a fashion similar to standard logic gates but without the limitation of being constrained to one specific function such as AND, NAND, etc. They are commonly implemented using a small number of logic gates internally, selected and interconnected to allow the overall logic function that is realized to be configured by the choice of which among several inputs the operating data is applied to, and the logic state to which any unused inputs are driven.
SelectionCharacteristics
Logic Type: Describes the logic functions used within the circuit.
Number of Circuits: Indicates the number of circuits of similar functions that are implemented within the device.
Number of Inputs: Indictates the number of inputs provided to each instance of a logic function incorporated in a device.
Schmitt Trigger Input: Indicates whether or not a device incorporates an input hysteresis mechanism. Typically used to avoid spurious outputs caused by noisy or slow-changing input signals.
Output Type: Indicates the type of electrical signal the device provides, such as CMOS, differential, or TTL.
Current - Output High, Low: The maximum recommended current flow through a device’s output pin. Multiple values reflect ratings that differ depending on the direction of the current flow.
Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Package / Case: Indicates the type of protective case used on an electronic component to allow easy handling, installation, and protection. This selection was determined to be the closest industry standard applicable to the suppliers device packaging. Typically it is best to check the actual dimensions from the datasheet rather than depend on this terminology when designing your circuit.
Supplier Device Package: This is what the manufacturer calls the package of this device. They are manufacturer specific. It is typically best to use the actual dimensions from the datasheets rather than to go by this terminology when designing your circuit.
