Identify I2C connector

I am looking for the most recent 4 pin I2C connector, looking online I see PN: 22-44-7041 for a molex connector. What is the most recent 4 pin I2C male connector and female plug?

Hello @mschmidt
Welcome to the Digikey techforum, this link 0.098" (2.50mm) 4 Through Hole Headers, Male Pins | Rectangular Connectors | Electronic Components Distributor DigiKey is connectors that are similar to P/N: 22-44-7041 and all of them but the TE connector have their mates listed on our website. The mate to the TE connector is 440133-4 TE Connectivity AMP Connectors | Connectors, Interconnects | DigiKey

I2C, the Inter-Integrated Circuit bus is not designed to go off of a PCB so the standards do not specify any connectors at all.

Of course a number of companies have used a number of different connectors to allow off PCB connection of breakout boards.

Great thank you!

Hi mschmidt,

There is no connector standard for I2C. I2C only defines the protocol and does not cover the physical interface at all. However, there are a few pseudo standards that various companies have defined to allow their customers to quickly connect various expansion boards they produce to their motherboards.

These include:

Sparkfun “Qwiic” and Adafruit “STEMMA QT” connector common standard using the 1mm pitch JST SH/SR series (both vendors use the same pinout)

Qwiic and STEMMA QT I2C pinout:

Adafruit “STEMMA” and DFRobot “Gravity” connector standards using the 2mm pitch JST PH/PHR series. (NOTE: They use different pinouts for SCL, SDA, power, and ground.)

SeeedStudio “Grove” connector standard using 2mm pitch proprietary connector.
