Hi! I am trying to identify the counts per revolution (CPR) and/or product # for an encoder disc. I have a device that uses an encoder (HEDS-9100 A00). I have looked up the datasheet and found that the likely disc candidate is an 11 mm HEDS series 5120 disc, but I am unsure what CPR and therefore the option number to select for ordering the replacement disc. Below is an image of the cracked disc. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Greetings,
My first suggestion would be to check the application’s documentation for any explicit statements or hints as to the matter; a statement of 10-bit rotational precision would suggest a 1024-count encoder for example.
Failing that, the next best option may be to measure what you’ve got; grab a protractor, mark out some segment of angle, count the number of fine divisions subtended thereby, and do the math to figure out how many wold be in a full circle. If the result lands suspiciously close to a neat, off-the-shelf value, assume the error’s in your measurements and go with the nice value rather than ordering up some weird bespoke option as a first effort.
Thank you so much for your reply - I will try those ideas out!
