Inline module sockets are surface mount and through-hole connectors designed to receive DIMM, miniDIMM, RDIMM, SIMM and SODIMM memory module connector styles allowing for periodic removal and replacement. They are selected by the number of positions, mounting features and additional features including board guides, covers, latches and board locks. Compatible memory types include DDR (2, 3, 4), SDRAM, DRAM, RAM and SGRAM.
SelectionCharacteristics
Connector Style: An indication of the type of connection being used. Typically meets a standard.
Number of Positions: Indicates the number of distinct conductors presented at a connector’s mating interface and the number of electrical contact points present within a connector.
Memory Type: The type of memory technology that the connector is designed to work with.
Standards: Indication of which standard(s) are used by relevant approval agencies.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Insertion Angle: The angle at which the memory module can be inserted in to the connector.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as a board guide, latch, or solder retention.
Mounting Feature: A modifying feature to how the device is being attached.
Card Thickness: The nominal memory card thickness with which a device is compatible.
Height: Indicates how tall the overall device is.
Color: The dominant color of the device.
Contact Finish: Indicates the finish/plating material applied to the contacts of the device.
Contact Finish Thickness: Indicates the thickness of the finish/plating material applied to the contacts of a device.
