Hello,
I’m considering purchasing the evaluation board for Melexis’ time-of-flight image sensor chip, the MLX75027, and I have a few questions I hope someone can help clarify:
- What is the difference between the EVK75027-110-2 and the EVK75027-110-1 kits?
- What kind of reference materials are provided when purchasing this kit? Specifically, will we have access to the schematic diagrams and PCB layout files of the EVK to help us make modifications and adapt the design to our own application scenario?
- Is this evaluation kit intended to be used as a complete depth camera product, or is it primarily meant to serve as a design reference for developing our own product?
Thank you in advance for any insights!
Hello starsea,
Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.
We do not carry these part numbers.
We do list the part numbers EVK75027-110-940-1 & EVK75027-110-940-2
Comparing the sensing range, the -1 is listed as VGA, and the -2 is 850nm, 940nm.
Comparing the Interface, the -1 has I2C, and the -2 has I2C, MIPI CSI-2.
Both are listed as a “Last Time Buy”, so they are being obsoleted.
So I wouldn’t plan on designing the actual board into a design.
The datasheet shows the -2 part number, and says the package contents are:
1x HW Module
1x external AC/DC 12V PSU
1x ethernet cable
Web-based visualizer
C API, Python & Matlab SDK (+ example code)
Unique registration key (for documentation, software, updates & support)
Does this mean that the EVK75027-110-2 is no longer available for purchase through DigiKey?
We are planning to develop a custom camera based on the MLX75027 chip tailored to our specific application scenario. To accelerate the development process, we are considering purchasing the EVK75027 kits.
Therefore, regardless of whether it is the EVK75027-110-940-2 or the EVK75027-110-940-2-SLM, we would like to know:
Will any design reference materials be provided after purchase? For example, access to the schematics, or other technical documentation.
We could not find clear information regarding this in the product brochures, so any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
EVK75027-110-940-2 is in a Last Time Buy status of 6/30/2026, it can be purchased until then, but there is a 14 week estimated lead time.
The sensor it is based on, MLX75027 also has the same Last Time Buy date.
Melexis pulled down all their documentation material for these boards but presumably you can ask them for the documentation and that would include schematics. They likely pulled down the documentation so they can warn people not to design around these sensors any longer.
You do not have a lot of time to design an application around these and continue purchasing the sensors.
