LCD Display

I am looking for a LCD Display for my Hyundai i20 2012 model. This display fits into the interior rear view mirror & comes on when the car is shifted to reverse gear enabling the rear camera.

It has a 60 pin connector at the end and is 3” in length & approx 1.8”- 2” in width.

Please help me find this LCD screen. Attaching images

Hello,
Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum. I checked and wasn’t able to find a replacement for this display. Your best option would be to go to an authorized Hyundai dealer to have it replaced or do a google search to find an original OEM or aftermarket screen and do the replacement yourself.

Hi,
Thanks for responding. Iv tried everything possible, but just not able to find it. Hyundai wouldn’t sell the LCD separately & the cost of replacing the entire mirror is extremely expensive. Its not worth the price to be paid for it. They quoted me ₹1,03,390 and id purchased the car for ₹7,52,000 in 2012.

Il have to figure any spares store if i can get. But thanks again for your help. Much appreciated…

Request you to please keep an eye, incase there is somehow you stumble onto it… would be great.

I did a Google reverse image search and found your post — the photo matches mine exactly. My unit is from a Hyundai Verna 2012, and it looks like Hyundai really cheaped out on these displays. I’ve seen several similar issues on YouTube as well. Mine is burned right in the center. The same thing happened to my meter console too, but that one was an easy fix with a polarizer replacement.

This display seems to be transflective. I replaced the front polarizer, but the burn mark is still visible — so the rear layer is probably damaged as well, and replacing that one is a lot trickier.

It’s been a while since you posted — did you manage to find a replacement or any workaround?

Hello, Fayizdasma. Welcome to TechForum!

Unfortunately, Steve Fellman’s answer still holds largely true at this time. Attempting to source hundred percent reliable integrated electronics for automotive repairs is a chancy endeavor at the best of times. Your best bet for a sure-to-work replacement would be checking with Hyundai, either directly or via Hyundai repair forums.

Hey,

Iv tried every possible thing to get this display, but it’s not available anywhere. Hyundai doesn’t provide just the LCD, they want you to buy the entire mirror which is costing approximately $1200. ironically which is 1/4th pice of the car I purchased back in 2012.

The centre console of the odometer is also burnt and cracked. I tried opening it to replace the polarising film, but the speed needles won’t come off, so I decided to leave it instead of breaking it.

But this is good to know & understand that there are a lot of people out there trying to resolve this issue and Hyundai isn’t doing anything to resolve the cheap displays being used.

Let me know if there’s any thing you’d come across. we could connect on

Cheers!!!

hey, of no use.. have tried everything possible. Hyundai service centres won’t help with an interior part. Haven’t come across any Hyundai repair forums.. Please share if you know..

best bit would be if this LCD is available at any seller’s place and it would be the easiest fix.. Hyundai would never help. ever!!

@sajid.sanwari

I too am not seeing that we would have a match based on the given information provided for the screen you have on hand.

Thanks for the info, guys. Just, a bit disappointed that this part isn’t available separately — the fix would be super simple if we could just get the LCD.

@sajid.sanwari – my speedo needles also wouldn’t come off. What I did was rotate the needle all the way down (past 220) to make some space. Then I gently lifted the black plate behind it. It’s flexible, so you can slide the polarizer in/out without pulling the needle off. Just be gentle.

If I ever find a proper replacement LCD or any workaround, I’ll update here.

Cheers.

As a former mechanic, one other option might be to see if auto wreckers have a replacement mirror (I.e. a place that disassembles and sells the good parts off broken cars)

I know it’s not the same as a brand new rear view mirror / screen, but they usually only charge a fraction of the price compared to buying the exact same, brand new part from the OEM!

Plus, wreckers here give you a few months warranty just so you can check it is the right part and make sure it works etc. so they might do the same thing where you are

I hope that helps a little!

Hey Dan,

Iv tried that option as well, to get it from a wrecked parts dealer.. but its a gamble out here in Mumbai, India. You might not get the correct part & there is no system of purchasing it online or any of that sort. Atleast not that i’m aware off. Not come across this as yet.

And there are areas where you’d probably get these but its highly risky.. as to trying to get 1 part of your car, you might loose another :rofl: as these areas are highly notorious for stealing car parts.
