I need an LED that will be visible inside a luminaire in daylight - it does not need to throw light, but people need to be able to see the light blinking during daytime hours.
Is the selected LED sufficiently bright to achieve this? If not, what would be an appropriate unit?
If this LED is correct, is the selected driver the correct one to drive this LED? Would it be capable of driving 4 of these LEDs?
Clearly, this is all completely new to me . . . Thank you for any information.
Greetings,
It’s impossible to give a confident answer without understanding the installation and the objectives. Visibility under direct sunlight is different than visibility under shade, and visibility in the sense of “can tell when looking closely” is different than “will notice even if not paying attention.”
This post addresses the driver selection topic. Looks like it could use updating, but the basic ideas still apply.
Long story short though, the driver/LED mentioned could be a reasonable pairing but the LED has some capacity that’s being left on the table. Trying to drive 4 of those emitters from one driver would leave a lot of capacity on the table, but one could imagine a scenario where that might not be a silly choice either.
The biggest strike against that driver selection is likely to be future availability:
