A Magnet is a material or object that produces a magnetic field. This magnetic field is invisible but is responsible for the most notable property of a magnet: a force that pulls on other ferromagnetic materials, such as iron, and attracts or repels other magnets. Multipurpose magnets are those not specifically designed to work with other products such as sensors and encoders.

Specifications to determine which multi purpose magnet is right for your application.
Shape: The physical shape of the magnet such as round or square.
Magnetization: Describes the orientation of the magnet’s North-South pole axis relative to its physical geometry.
Material: The material that the magnet is made from, such as iron, NdFeB, etc.
Finish: Indicates the protective surface coating material present on a magnet, if specified by the manufacturer.
Grade: Magnet material grade designation, which communicates information about magnet strength and temperature range. Primarily pertains to neodymium magnets.
Gauss Strength: The magnetic flux density produced by a given magnet; a measure of magnet strength.
Size: The physical dimensions of the magnet. Typically length, width, and height or diameter and height.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
