MG Chemicals offers a diverse array of chemical aids and solutions for adhesion, cleaning, and fabrication, including their 9460TC-3ML heat-cured one-part epoxy. Recently we’ve had some questions on this product concerning its curing properties. Namely, questions on why the product isn’t curing or “drying” and whether it’s defective because of this.
The product isn’t defective at all if left to dry on its own; it is, unfortunately, being misused. Per the product’s datasheet, this is a heat cured only epoxy - it requires a curing temperature of at least 80C before it will properly cure. Left on its own devices in ambient room temperatures, it will remain wet and workable indefinitely - this is actually considered a selling point of this particular epoxy.
If you want an ambient room temperature air-dryable epoxy, you will have to look elsewhere.
