Monitor - Relay Output

This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Monitor - Relay Output category on DigiKey.com

Relay output monitors detect abnormal output of industrial relays and trigger a logical output or set of contacts. Common detection types include; AC and DC current or voltage, voltage asymmetry, ground fault, temperature monitoring, phase loss, and sequence or imbalance. They are selectable by trip range, delay time, supply voltage, mounting type, and switch circuitry.

SelectionCharacteristics

Type: Indicates the style and configuration of the device.

Trip Status: Indicates the behavior of a device’s output relay when the monitoring setpoint has been exceeded.

Trip Range: Indicates the range over which a device’s monitoring threshold can be adjusted.

Delay Time: Describes a fixed or adjustable period of time after a monitored circuit exceeds some defined threshold that a device will wait before actuating its output.

Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.

Output Type: Indicates the type of electrical signal the device provides, such as relay or solid state.

Circuit: Describes device function in terms of a number of poles and throws, as is typical for mechanical switches. For more information please see: Switch Basics, Examples of Pole and Throw

Contact Rating @ Voltage: Typically this represents the maximum current to which a device’s contacts will meet their given specifications at a given voltage. Exceeding this current may damage the device and/or other system components.

Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
