Need help finding a 1~1.5mm pitch low profile high stress connector for edge to edge B2B connection

I have struggled for hours trying to find a connector that suites my purposes, and have looked on and off for several months. I am trying to find a small edge to edge board connector pair that undergoes multiple disconnects. My first prototype boards used a 1.27mm(0.05in) pitch rectangular right angle pin and socket, very similar to dupont connectors except half the scale. These did not hold up and bent frequently. I need the connector to be small but robust. The boards are going to be coplanar.

The only connector that I have found that sort of work is the Keystone 6100 and 6102 connectors. These are great 10 amp small connectors, but they are effectively 3 mm pitch and individual connectors, not a 4 pin assembly like what I need. I have used the keystone connectors for power, but they are too big for data lines.

I would really appreciate help finding a connector, I would rather order a preexisting connector than have a team design a custom connector. I totally understand if this is not feasible, I have already invested a significant portion of my time looking for connectors with no results. Thank you!

Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum! If you’ve been looking for quite a while and cannot find something that fits for what you need, chances are designing something custom are going to be the route to go. As size and robustness are typically trade-offs of each other, it’ll be difficult to find one with best of both worlds. If you haven’t had a chance to check out SAM1142-02-ND and SAM1143-02-ND you might find the value added options as something that might work for you. I have thought about those connectors, a minor issue with that is the space the second row takes on the board, but I know there are tradeoffs to everything. I was using a single row header before, so having 2 rows would probably stiffen it up a little bit. My main issue with that is I haven’t been able to find a right angle version of that receptacle.
