Omron G8P Relays

Where have all the G8P Omron Relays gone?

Omron obsoleted the G8P relay series back in 2016 and since then people have been trying to find suitable replacements. Omron did not leave their customers without options in most cases. As you can see in the screen shot below, they have provided us a list of recommended replacements.

These are the part numbers called out in the Data Sheet:

Mounting type Contact form Construction Obsolete Suggested
PCB SPST-NO Open frame G8P-1AP G4A-1A-(P)E
PCB SPST-NO Sealed with ventable nib G8P-1A4P G4A-1A-(P)E
PCB SPDT Open frame G8P-1CP G2RL-1-E
PCB SPDT Sealed with ventable nib G8P-1C4P G2RL-1-E
PCB & Quick Connect load terminals SPST-NO Open frame G8P-1ATP G4A-1A-(P)E
PCB & Quick Connect load terminals Sealed with ventable nib G8P-1A4TP G4A-1A-(P)E
PCB & Quick Connect load terminals SPDT Open frame G8P-1CTP G2RL-1-E
PCB & Quick Connect load terminals SPDT Sealed with ventable nib G8P-1C4TP G2RL-1-E
Flange mount Quick Connect terminals SPST-NO Vented G8P-1A2T-F G4A-1A-(P)E

While these are electronically suitable, they are NOT foot print equivalents!

The G8P relay series use this foot print.

In comparison, these are the footprint arrangements on the other two relay series. For people who are designing new circuits this most likely would not be a problem but for those looking to place them in existing circuits will find this troublesome.

Don’t Panic, There is still hope!

Here are a few series of relay that do match the footprint of the original G8P
