Photonics Counters are used to detect items that pass by a beam of light by counting the number of photons on a given surface area. Photon Detectors count photons and react proportionally to the amount detected. Photonics Single Photon Counting Modules (SPCMs) are devices made for low-light detection applications.
SelectionCharacteristics
Type: A general description of the item and function.
Photon Detection Efficiency: Indicates the percentage of photons counted compared to the actual count.
Wavelength Range: Indicates the range of light wavelengths the device is rated to measure.
Dark Count Rate: The average counts the device can register without an activation light.
Wavelength - Peak: The wavelength at which the device is most responsive.
Max Count Rate: This is how many photons per second the device is able to measure.
Dead Time: Indicates the time it takes the device to reset between detections, nothing can be counted during the dead time, so photons passing during the dead time will not be counted.
Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits that one can expect in standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.
Output: Describes the formatting of the output data.
Detector Type: Describes the detector being used in the device.
Active Area: The physical size of the photoreceptive element(s) within the device.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as a C-mount bracket.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
