According to the provisions of this article, the placing on the market of the following categories is prohibited:
Batteries and accumulators containing Mercury: Regardless of whether they are incorporated into devices or not, the marketing of those containing more than 0.0005% mercury by weight is prohibited (except for button batteries, which have specific regulated limits).
Portable batteries and accumulators containing Cadmium: The placing on the market of those containing more than 0.002% cadmium by weight, including those incorporated into appliances, is prohibited.
