Quectel is an IoT specialist offering an array of ready-to-use modules, including their EC25EFA-MINIPCIE multiple-protocol communications module. This module has a number of regional variations that each come with different firmware, and we’ve seen some questions recently about whether these boards are capable of cross-downloading different regional firmware onto the same batch of single-region boards, effectively changing out its region. Is this possible?
Quectel does not recommend or support firmware cross-downloading. Devices should be purchased for the specific region they will be used in; cross-downloading firmware should be avoided if at all possible to avoid introducing gremlins to your system.
