Relay Contact Protection Circuits

Use of relay contact protective devices or protection circuits for an inductive load can suppress the counter EMF (electromotive force or electromagnetic field) to a low level. However, note that incorrect use will result in an adverse effect. Typical contact protection circuits are given in the table below, please note AC or DC applications.
