Have older Yamazen Lathe needs replacement contactors that power the motor for moving the table. The originals made by Mitsubishi are discontinued. Tried going thru Mitsubishi directly ended up purchasing 2 new contactors. The problem is the new contactors we got are over 2× the size of the original ones. Where the contactors are mounted is inside the housing of the lathe the so the contactor size is critical in order to fit where the original contactors were.
Its obvious I’m no electrical engineer so excuse me if im not explaining the best. So insummary original Mitsubishi contactor model is discontinued and the replacements we ordered are to large to fit, so need to find equivalent model contactors they will fit.
1st pic is of original contactors
2nd pic is new contactors we purchased
3rd & 4th Pics show original next to the new ones and the drastic difference in sizes.
An engineer told me on reddit that digikey had contactors in-stock that would work for what i need.
Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated
Hello @oocinsocal,
Welcome to the TechForum.
Yes, DigiKey offers many three-phase contactors and accessories.
The challenge is to locate the appropriate substitute and then adding the correct accessories such as auxiliary contacts.
I am unable to locate the coil voltage from your pictures. Perhaps you can find this information on the side of the contactor.
Get coil voltage and type (AC vs DC) wrong and the coil will burn out, or the contactor will not reliably pull in.
As a starting point, consider the Siemens 3RT2 contactor. Note that this is a tall assembly.
Best wishes,

Good afternoon Sir. I appreciate your getting back to me. The information you asked for is as follows
Coil voltage : 208v
A.C. power
The contactors are for a lathe in a machine we shop located in an Industrial center.
If any additional information is needed just lmk and I’ll get that to you asap.
Thanks,

Where can I find the dimensions for these at ? The contactors I need to replace are mounted inside of the lathe housing so space is limited making size critical. Mitsubishi sold me a set that they said were the new version of my originals but when I unboxed them they’re huge and don’t fit in the lathe.
Thanx
