SAW Filters

This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the SAW Filters category on DigiKey.com

SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) Filters are designed to remove unwanted frequencies from a circuit. Items in this family convert signal voltages into acoustic waves at one end of the device. These waves travel the length of quartz device at a specific frequency. The waves are reconverted back to signal voltages on the other end. The bandwidth range is 25kHz to 328MHz with insertion losses of 0.44dB to 23dB.

SelectionCharacteristics

Frequency - Center: Indicates the midpoint of a filter’s pass-band; the range of frequencies that is minimally attenuated by the filter.

Bandwidth: Refers to the span of frequencies covered by the band. For example, a device with a frequency of 10MHz and a bandwidth of 2MHz, typically signifies the band of frequencies between 9MHz and 11MHz. Carefully consult the datasheets to ensure the device you choose covers the correct band of frequencies for your application.

Insertion Loss: A measure of power losses incurred by signals passing through a device, under manufacturer-defined test conditions.

Ratings : Minimum performance standards of the device, which are typically set by a third party.

Applications: Application is the type of equipment or environment the device will be used in, typically they are tested and rated by a third party to ensure certain minimum standards for the application they are intended for.

Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.

Package/Case: Indicates the type of protective case used on an electronic component to allow easy handling, installation, and protection. This selection was determined to be the closest industry standard applicable to the supplier’s device packaging. Typically it is best to check the actual dimensions from the datasheet rather than depend on this terminology when designing your circuit.

Height (Max): Indicates how far the device will extend above the surface to which it has been attached.

Size/Dimension: The physical dimensions of the device. Typically length X width.
