Sockets provide for repeated insertion, removal, substitution and replacement of Integrated Circuits (ICs) and transistors in a circuit. Socket adapters allow the use of ICs and transistors of one package type to be used in place of another package type such as adapting an eight-pin DIP package to a JEDEC socket package. Popular surface mount and through-hole packages may be converted to DIP, JEDEC, PGA, PLCC, QFP, SOIC and SOWIC.
SelectionCharacteristics
Convert From (Adapter End): Indicates the style and configuration of the device being converted from.
Convert To (Adapter End): Indicates the style and configuration of the device being converted to.
Number of Pins: Indicates the number of leads present on components with which a product is designed for use.
Pitch - Mating: The nominal center distance between adjacent contacts on the side of a device that is intended to connect to a complementary connector or device package.
Contact Finish - Mating: Indicates the material with which the mating portion of a product is plated or finished.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Termination: Selection of termination style used to connect the device to a system, such as solder or wire wrap.
Pitch - Post: The distance between contacts on the side of a socket that typically interfaces with a circuit board.
Contact Finish - Post: Indicates the surface finish/plating material present on the portion of a product intended for permanent attachment in an application.
Housing Material: Indicates the material composition of the housing of the device.
Board Material: Indicates the material composition of the board on the device.
