TAIYO YUDEN offers a line of passive inductors including the NR, S-Type products suited to a wide variety of assemblies. You may find a callout which includes an ‘8’ suffix at the end of the part number however, such as NRS6028T220MMGJ8 rather than the NRS6028T220MMGJ that DigiKey carries? Can you use the non-‘8’ part in place of the ‘8’? What does this ‘8’ signify?
The ‘8’ product is a higher-grade option, with a wider maximum temperature range of -40 to 125C compared to the -25 to 125C of the non-‘8’ part. The ‘8’ product is intended for telecommunications infrastructure, industrial, or Class III medical, while the non-8 part is only qualified to Class I or II. If you are using the products in an application that does not require the wide temp range or the improved reliability of the ‘8’ product, the non-‘8’ will work fine, but you should verify this with your engineering team prior to making the purchase.
