Transistor substitute 2sc1740

Im looking for a modern replacement for a 2sc1740 transistor

Welcome to the forum.

1989 Sam’s substitution guide says to use an NTE85.
The 1987 Radio-Shack handbook shows 276-2009 which is a 2N2222A.

There’s a good chance that any 30V, 500mA ,625mW, TO-92, NPN transistor will work. One catch would be if this is used in a high frequency radio circuit, then the bandwidth specs might matter.
