Vacuum Fluorescent Display Modules (VFD) are devices that use heated filaments to cause phosphor-coated plates to emit light within a vacuum. The viewing area ranges in sizes from 46.54 mm x 7.65 mm to 306.95 mm x 25.35 mm. The available display types are character, graphic, 7, and 14 segments. These display modules can have interfaces of I2C, parallel, RS-422, serial, SPI, TTL/CMOS, and USB.

Outline L x W x H: Characterizes a device’s outer dimensions. (Length x Width x Height)
Viewing Area: The dimensions of the portion of a display that is usable for showing images or characters.
Display Format: Indicates the arrangement of character spaces on a display, as (number of characters per row) x (number of rows).
Display Type: Describes the display format for the characters.
Format: Describes the pattern of pixels present in each character segment of the display.
Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.
Character Size: Describes the physical dimensions of a standard character space on a display.
Number of Dots: For modules with graphic display capability, indicates the size of the overall display field.
Interface: Indication of which interface(s) or protocol(s) are used by the device to communicate with other components in the system.
Controller type: Identifies the integrated circuit in a device that provides control and communications functions.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
