VersaFlo S-103 Series - PPE

QUESTION: Why does the VersaFlo S-103 Series headtop have holes in it?

ANSWER: The large hole in the back (red arrow) is where the breathing tube attaches (back of the headtop), and pumps in the oxygen. The small vent holes reduce noise and distribute/minimize the potential for air whistling past the wearer’s ears. The holes help smooth out the turbulent air that is passing through the headtop. With a smoother airflow the headtop is more likely to retain a secure seal and there is less of a chance a gap will form where the faceseal makes contact with the skin.
