Voltage Regulator Part# Does Not Match Exactly

Hi,

I need L78M05ABV but digikey gives me 497-15725-5-ND and 497-1461-5-ND. What’s the difference and which would work for me?

Also I need L78M06ABV but it only show up in digikey as L7806ABV, without the M. After using the later part number it gives me 497-19132-ND and 497-1444-5-ND. What’s the difference and which would work for me?

Hello,

Please verify specifications of 497-1444-5-ND | 497-1461-5-ND, click here. These should be a suitable fit.

Perfect thank you!

Please see page 3/30 for the ‘‘M’’ difference.

Have a great day!

Hmm… if I have a L78M06ABV, are you saying the L7806ABV (no M) still works?

I would think it would work, I see slightly higher quiescent current and slightly higher tolerance on the replacement, usually this wouldn’t matter but depending how fussy your design is, it would be best to verify the datasheets however to be sure.

Thank you!

It’s for a climate control module that died in a car. L78M06ABV terminals 1 to 2 read 0.8 Ohms, 1 to 3 = 9.47, 2 to 3 = 8.67. With the leads reversed 1 to 2 = 0.8, 1 to 3 = 9.07, 2 to 3 = 8.22. I thought it was shorted because 1 to 2 was low. But L78M05ABV terminals 1 to 2 read 3.60, 1 to 3 = 12.31, 2 to 3 = 8.67. With the leads reversed 1 to 2 = 3.64, 1 to 3 = 12.03, 2 to 3 = 8.22. I had assumed this one was ok.
