I need to replace the probe for a digital oscilloscope that I own. I’ve looked at the data sheet for DigiKey’s part number 1286-1075-ND. However, no value range is listed to indicate the probe’s compensation scope.
My oscilloscope normally uses the PP-150. Here’s the data sheet for that probe:
As you can see, this probe has a compensation scope of 15pF-35pF.
I’d like to know whether or not the 1286-1075-ND would be suitable to replace the PP-150. For this reson, I need to know its compensation scope. Is it 15pF-35pF, like the PP-150?
Greetings,
Probes of that sort are a common item and highly interchangeable by design, in the same sense that a 1/2" impact socket from most any manufacturer will fit and function just fine on a 1/2" impact wrench from most any other manufacturer.
One needn’t concern oneself with the specifics of the compensation trimmer when choosing such a probe; simply plug it into most any 'scope with a BNC input made in the last 50+ years and adjust the compensation to show a clean square wave.
Thanks. This is very helpful.
There is an additional post on this as well: Digilent Oscilloscope Probe Compensation which may offer a few additional tips.
