Wire to board terminal blocks are surface or through-hole board mount, press fit or panel mount connection points for securing two or more wires to a circuit or power bus. Mounting features may include board guides, flanges, latches, ejectors, levers, strain reliefs and locks. They are selected by current and voltage parameters as well as wire gauge, pitch, numbers of levels and positions, and termination style.
SelectionCharacteristics
Number of Levels: Indicates the number of rows of contact positions incorporated in a device, called “levels” in reference to the rows’ varying distance from the mounting surface.
Positions Per Level: Indicates the number of independent circuits present in a device along each level, row, or tier of contacts
Pitch: Indicates the center-to-center spacing between adjacent pins.
Mating Orientation: Describes the orientation of a wire entering a block relative to the plane of a circuit board on which the block is mounted; 0° (“Vertical”) is perpendicular to a board, 90° (“Horizontal”) is parallel to a board.
Current: Typically this represents the maximum current to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this current may damage the device and/or other system components.
Voltage: Typically this represents the maximum voltage rating to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this voltage rating may damage the device and other system components.
Wire Gauge: The wire size or size range with which a product is designed for use, typically expressed in terms of AWG (American Wire Gauge).
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Wire Termination: Selection of termination style used to connect the device to a system, such as quick-connect or solder.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as board guide, cover, or knife disconnect.
Color: The dominant color of the device.
