This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Barrier Blocks category on DigiKey.com
Barrier terminal blocks are PCB or chassis mount connection points for securing two or more wires to a circuit or power bus. They consist of screw, quick connect, solder tab, turret, wire wrap or threaded stud positions arranged in a continuous strip. Each position is fully insulated from the other positions. Blocks are differentiated by number of circuits, number of wire entries, pitch, number of rows, current and voltage ratings, wire gauge, and top or bottom termination.
SelectionCharacteristics
Terminal Block Type: The generalized physical form of a device.
Number of Circuits: The total number of electrical conductors the device has.
Number of Wire Entries: Indicates the number of wire attachment points provided by a terminal block.
Pitch: Indicates the center-to-center spacing between adjacent pins.
Number of Rows: Indicates the number of rows the connector has.
Current Rating (Amps): Typically this represents the maximum current to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this current may damage the device and/or other system components.
Voltage Rating: Typically this represents the maximum voltage rating to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this voltage rating may damage the device and other system components.
Wire Gauge: The wire size or size range with which a product is designed for use, typically expressed in terms of American Wire Gauge.
Top Termination: Describes the style of electrical connections present on the side of the block that is above or in front of a mounting surface in typical use.
Bottom Termination: Style/form factor of the electrical connections on the bottom of the terminal block, typically used for permanent connection to the system in which the block is installed.
Barrier Type: The physical style/shape of the insulating material between adjacent terminals.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as cover, fuse, or side stacking.
Color: The dominant color of the device.
