12v to 5v conversion

Hi - I am wondering if anyone can help me please.

I have a 5.5/2.1mm DC male connector hard wired in to a 12v power supply, and I need to convert it to a 5v USB-C connector. My preference is not to have to do any hard wiring (the connection is concealed behind a panel and hard to access), and just use a connector instead.

I found this - part number 1738-FIT0784-ND which will do the connection. My question is whether I need to drop the voltage from 12v to 5v somehow, or will it be fine.

It is to power a Netgear Nighthawk M2.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello dcreynolds09 and welcome to the forum,

You would need to have 5V coming into the adapter, I would recommend getting a 5V power supply; depending on the wall plug and power you need such a supply could be found here. (filter first by amperage you need)

I do not recommend doing a DC/DC conversion if you can help it outside of the power supply, but if your heart is set you could review this subset of parts.
